Norwich October 30 Dr W K Tingley physician for economist David A Wells reports rumors of his serious condition unfounded Wells is 70 and recently took cold worsening his debilitated state He is not in immediate danger and continues his work on economic papers with nurse care for over a year.
In Roxbury last night Station 9 officers raided 86 Dacia Street seizing two packs of playing cards and chips. Ten men and two women were arrested for participating, while three others were held only for being present. All twelve were jailed at Station 9 and face Roxbury District Court arraignment this morning.
In Paris on the eve of Philippine talks, Senor Monto Rios of the Nikties Peace Commission is ill, casting doubt on a possible joint session tomorrow. Spaniards may resist admitting any American treaty terms on sovereignty, with disputes likely over the protocol wording of control and disposition. The American case stands prepared for presentation at the 2 p.m. session.
Washington reports an informal Cabinet gathering at the White House to review forthcoming annual reports. Van Wyck will win by more than 70 000 votes while the New York Legislature leans Democratic on joint ballot by a 16 vote margin. The Democrats and Fusionists projected to command a majority of 11 or more in the next Congress. Congress tally: Democrats 168 Republicans 136 Fusion 16 doubtful 27. State elections show Democrats winning 11 states, Republicans 9, Fusionists 6, leaving six doubtful. Senators due to retire next month total Democrats 13 Republicans 12 doubtful 5.
Paris reports no public agitation over the Court of Cassation revision order in the Dreyfus case. Comte Esterhazy allegedly pressuring generals for money, while President Faure faces anti Jewish jeers. The court holds absolute control to examine files, hear witnesses, and possibly bring Dreyfus home for inquiry.

Havana October 30. Colonel Hecker and Colonel Lee of the United States Special Transportation Commission were ordered home by Washington. Lee will sail tomorrow on the Seneca, while Hecker’s departure remains unresolved amid speculation tied to Colonel George E. Waring Jr.’s death and War Department plans. General Wade and Lt Col Clouss conferred with Lee and Hecker, and Dr O’Reilly may become disbursing officer and house headquartermaster on Wade’s staff. The recall is viewed as highly significant by Americans in Havana.
Miss Eva Moran of No 4 Union Court Cambridge reported being assaulted by Mrs Mary E Kelly of No 164 Gore Street Cambridge. Moran showed two inch and one inch cuts on head and arm from a knife. Officer Gordon arrested Kelly, later released on bond. Kelly claims Moran struck first with an umbrella.
