Taft Alone At Vicksburg
President Taft arrived at Vicksburg on the lighthouse tender Oleander at 9 40 pm as only two of the fleet that left St. Louis on Monday reached the port. The St Paul and the Quincy with governors, Speaker Cannon, and many senators and representatives were not in sight during his stay. The river trip schedule has unraveled and a plan to wait outside New Orleans on Saturday may be dropped if Taft is to reach the Crescent City in daylight.
