In Favor of Stuart Street Extension Proposal
The City Council referred Mayor Peters' plan to extend Stuart street from Columbus avenue to Tremont street at Eliot street to the finance committee. The committee will meet this week and the council is expected to approve the act. The project is described as the city’s largest street undertaking, creating a western traffic artery with multi million-dollar realty funding and a city cost not exceeding 250000 dollars, with future expansion to South Station and a continuous 80 foot highway from Dartmouth to Washington. The extension from Clarendon to Dartmouth is underway, and approval would connect to Ferdinand, Church, Pleasant, Carver and Wrentham streets.
