Governor Coolidge voting against party divisions warns against government born of force or deceit. He vows to resist those who resist government and champions a government of all the people not ruled by fear or faction. The Middlesex Club dinner at Hotel Somerset commemorated Theodore Roosevelt.
John L. Lewis acting president of the United Mine Workers of America calls 25 district presidents and scale committee members to meet with the international executive board at 10 a.m. Wednesday to decide the strike, as he heads to Indianapolis to lead the threatened soft coal stoppage set for Friday at midnight.
New England congressmen vote on overriding the president's veto. Vermont Greene Dale and New Hampshire Wason voted against overriding. Massachusetts Lufkin Rogers Tinkham Walsh Winslow Phelan and Connecticut Glynn Merritt Tilson were recorded as voting.
King Albert Queen Elizabeth and Prince Leopold arrive in Washington for a three day visit to discuss affairs with officials. They are greeted at the station by Vice President Marshall and other leaders.
