Funeral stage craft and hats in a witty column

A fragmentary satirical note discusses a hat surviving a flower pot fall, a Folio barber, and a stage path for Frank James. It hints that Mrs Scoville fancies Joe Howard and suggests Mary Walker and a Michigan singer face jealousy. It ends by saying rehearsing funerals now smooths performances with undertaker as stage manager.

Reply to Editor on Lodge Tariff Views From D. D. Kelly

D. D. Kelly writes to the Boston Post critiquing Senator Lodge on tariff and free trade, arguing Democrats cut government costs while Republicans raised them, denying false claims of free trade support, praising some leaders yet urging adherence to truth. He cites Webster and Gladstone, notes labor by tillers of the soil, and urges better representation for Massachusetts.
