The Brookline police found trunks belonging to Mary Leyden filled with dresses laces dress goods ornaments vases and other items valued from 2 cents to 20 dollars. Several families including Chandlers of Boylston street P C Chase Dr James B Ayer and Mrs Henry Stackpole claim belongings from her stints there. About a dozen purses were found though the purse missing by Chandler containing six dollars. Mary did a lot of talking but did not appear to dispose of any taken goods.

Count and countess clash aboard Kaiser Friedrich amid chase

On the Hamburg American liner Kaiser Friedrich a Count Michoney pursued aboard a tug after signals from a woman and her maid who had boarded the ship. The count claimed the woman was his wife and tried to board the tug. police later ordered him off. The escape ended at Hoboken with possible divorce proceedings.
