Begging soldiers in Ogden demand food on Manila-bound voyage
In Ogden Utah on October first volunteers from the Forty sixth Regiment marching to the Philippines begged for food after arriving in the city. Civilians contributed money which bought bread as the troops complained of hardtack and canned beef. Several desertions had occurred since the unit left for Manila.

People's Institute Opens Season With Reception and Dance
The People's Institute opened its season with a reception in People's Hall featuring Fraser's Orchestra and the Amberside Mandolin Trio.
