City Street Railway Deficit Narrowed by 10 Cent Fare
The Street Railways Commission reports that receipts from the 10 cent fare, in effect since July 10, have grown and now cover expenses. Despite earlier deficits totaling 928,694.85 for the last quarter, track work, a July arbitration wage retroactivity, and a July strike contributed to losses. Officials expect most deficits to be cleared in the next three months and aim to close the year without an outstanding tax burden.
