Rebels in China Defeat Main Army at Kwang Shui

Reports from Pekin say Yin Tchang's government forces about 20,000 strong were defeated by Li Yueng's rebel army of 15,000 at Kwang Shui in Hu Peh province. Rebels captured artillery baggage train and ammunition as imperial troops retreated to Sho Got.

Drift from Hankow show clash as rebels attack troops

A joint despatch by Admirals Jui-Cheng and Sah-Chen-Ping reports second Tien-Tsin instalment attacked near the river station by 2000 to 3000 rebels. General Chang-Piao led forces from Tu-Nan Hu-Peh and Ho-Nan, killing 200 to 300 rebels and seizing six large guns and additional weapons. Over 2 percent of loyalist troops were killed.

Two Dead in Oklahoma Race War Follows Bevers Slaying

In Coweta Oklahoma Ed Suddeth killed City Attorney Bevers and wounded two others sparking vigilante violence. Suddeth was lynched then cut down to prevent a larger race war. A mob killed him as he was to be jailed in Wagoner. Wounded include Carmen Oliver and Steller Thompson with poor prognosis.

Fire Destroys Stable Killing One Hundred Horses

A major blaze at Granite avenue in East Milton destroyed the two and a half story Winslow stable and damaged the adjacent Neponset Coal Company property. One hundred horses perished or were severely affected, with fifty four rescued and many animals driven to safety through smoke and flames. Firefighters from Milton aided by Boston crews contained the fire, with losses estimated at $50,000 to $60,000.
