John H. Pray, Sons & Co. still sell their stock of Oriental Rugs and Eastern Carpets at old tariff prices. Goods were brought in under the old law tariff and offered to customers as long as stocks last. Prudent buyers should take advantage.
Boston marks the hundredth birthday of the frigate Constitution with a citywide celebration. Governors, senators, and dignitaries attend Old South exercises, a grand parade, a navy yard review aboard the Constitution, and night illuminations. Thousands fill streets, many press toward the ship, and several veterans and survivors are highlighted in ceremonies and processions.
