Fatal bike crash on Jamaica Pond ends Salem man’s life

James J. Powers of Salem riding in front seat of a tandem with partner T M Q OConnell collided with Alfred Newmarch of Ward 21 on a Jamaica Pond road just opposite the electric launch landing. Powers died from head injuries amid rapid ambulance arrival and medical effort. OConnell and Newmarch were hurt but survived. Newmarch is a sitting Common Council member.

Wind of Death Sweeps Minnesota and Dakotas in Blizzard

A brutal blizzard across Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota and Manitoba drives 50 mph winds and dust storms.
