Several York county towns along the coast felt three distinct shocks tonight in what reports say were earthquakes. Towns including York Wells Kennebunkport and North Berwick reported jarred buildings but no damage. No tremor was observed in Biddeford or Maine's capital.

Miss Martha Joy a Youth's Companion stenographer was beaten on Rockwell Street near 106 Milton Avenue. A 23 year old assailant in dark clothes and a derby hat fled as residents, doctors, and police searched the area. Police suspect mistaken identity in a series of similar assaults.

Three Earth Tremors Reported in York Maine

He was held in bonds of 1000 and the girl placed in custody of the Children's Society.
