At noon today the first of a twelve mile series between the 25 foot yachts Early Dawn and Flirt will start off Nahant. Joe Turner sails Early Dawn with Marlin commanding Flirt. The course features windward reaches and a final four mile rule. George Lee acts as referee. Betting runs 3 to 1 on Flirt as government police patrols the course. Ownership of a $1000 pot is at stake with half provided by each boat’s backers. The official steamer will start at 19 this morning. Second race Monday, third if needed Wednesday.
