Doctrines and Dogmas at Congregational Church Council

The National Council of the Congregational Church heard a report urging greater church involvement in training ministers, especially for missions. Cape Cod Rescue By Pilot Boat No 3

Pilot boat No 3 from Bremen Maine rescued two men from the sloop yacht Belle Brandon some twenty miles off Cape Cod on October 16. Both men were taken from a perilous position after being blown offshore and brought to safety.

Contempt Proceedings In McLaren vs Manning

Colonel Charles Whittlesey Dies in Cleveland An Era Geologist

Col Charles Whittlesey, renowned geologist and scholar born Southington Conn Oct 5 1808, died in Cleveland yesterday. He moved to Ohio in 1815, graduated West Point 1851, practiced law briefly in Cleveland, ran the Cleveland Herald, then pursued engineering and led geological surveys in Ohio Wisconsin Michigan Minnesota. He served as chief engineer of Union troops in the Civil War.
