Old friend accidentally strikes Roxbury coal man to death
Charles Mann, 1845 born Roxbury coal dealer and head of Carroan Mann Coal Co., died at Brae Burn Clubhouse three hours after being struck on the temple by a golf club raised by Walter S Wait Sr of West Newton. The accident occurred at the Newton golf course with no foul play suspected. authorities called it a pure accident and Mann is survived by his widow Ella Elizabeth Dove Mann and a daughter. Mann was active in Knights Templars, Freemasonry, and local clubs.
