Empire Mining annual meeting endorses management in Portland
A nugget of gold worth 1300 dollars was found in the Bald Mountain mine at Forest City. The Empire Mining and Milling Company held its annual meeting in Portland Monday, reelecting the old board unanimously and adopting resolutions praising the directors. Reports from recent property show high grade ore and milling to start soon. The Portage Lake Gazette notes underground developments and plans to expand stamping facilities near the dam to handle increased rock output. A Ball’s head crusher will be installed with necessary mineral dressing appliances, using existing mill equipment to save costs. Water supply feasibility for full mill capacity was confirmed. Ridge Mining levied a 50 cent shore assessment. Reports from the Copper Falls ash-bed remain excellent.
