Ferguson freed after laborer captivity in Pittsburg

Pittsburg news reports contractor Ferguson of the Cresson Clearfield and New York Short Line railroad was held a week by Hungarian and Italian workers for unpaid wages. Burgess Fitzharris of Gallitzin arrested three ringleaders and saved him from lynching. He is to be paid tomorrow.

Fire at Mower stable destroys building and harms horses

A fire alarm from box 61 in Lynn reported a blaze at No. 72 Union street in Earit A. Mower's stable. The structure burned out, 21 horses were present with three suffocated, including a Wheeler & Wilson blind horse, a Baylies mare, and Mower's carriage mare. Estimated losses near $4000 plus $5000 for losses at adjacent premises. One man, John M. Dame, suffered severe burns to hands and face. Origin unknown, suspected incendiary.
