Washington Oct 15 The President had a satisfactory day with headache relief, according to Dr Grayson’s 10 30 bulletin The White House atmosphere tonight is one of satisfaction over the patient’s condition
President M Innes of the Police Union backs a motion to bar resolutions on Boston police strike freedom for Ireland and the flame issue from the convention. Opposition is expected today and the debate centers on restricting items on the agenda.
In St Johnsbury Vermont the Arab stallion Rustem Bey led the second 60 mile lap of a 300 mile cavalry horse endurance test. Owner W. R. Brown of Maynesboro Farm Berlin New Hampshire watched as Rustem Bey finished in less than 10 hours but could not cross the line before the time limit, with Kheyra close behind.
Parson Belvin W. Maynard ends a grueling cross country sprint as he nears Sidney Nebraska after a 5402 mile air race from Mineola Long Island. He averaged around 140 miles per hour on the final leg despite rain and mist.
In Worcester on October 15 the Massachusetts Branch of the American Legion held its first convention at the Hotel Bancroft. Delegates and alternates heard a bitter battle over whether to address topics from Boston police strikes to Ireland and Fiume. President John F. McInnes led the push to disbar striking officers from discussion, winning a temporary victory as the session affirmed his stance.

Dublin Oct 15 An order signed by the chief secretary and commander in chief of forces in Ireland prohibits the assembly in Dublin city and county of Sinn Fein Irish Volunteers and Gaelic League. The 12th annual Sinn Fein convention was set to begin at the Mansion House in Dublin tomorrow morning.
Secretary of Labor Wilson announced he would mediate in the coal strike dispute between the United Mine Workers and the Coal Operators Association in the central competitive fields. He said John L. Lewis and Thomas F. Brewster agreed to meet and confer, with a conference set for Friday in Washington.
Three year old Edwin Mylliki of 463 Williard street Quincy is on the dangerous list at Quincy City Hospital after being struck and knocked down by an automobile near his home last evening.
Earnest pleas at a high school wage hearing urge abolition of sex discrimination in teacher salaries and demand equal pay for equal work plus a flat $600 increase for all. The meeting was attended by representatives.
Boston's state election registration reaches 116 991, up 645 from 1918 and short of 1916 peak by 634. Ward 23 West Roxbury Roslindale leads with 446 registrants. Ward 7 gains 618 since primaries reaching 4953, Ward 8 close at 474. Ward 4 shows the smallest rise with 79.
President Wilson, ill but attentive, marked Mrs Wilsons birthday by arranging a gift a White House staffer purchased days earlier. He presented the remembrance to her today in Washington reflected in a quiet observance despite his illness.
The American ambassador John W. Davis unveiled a bust of Abraham Lincoln in the parish church at noon in Hingham Norfolk. The town is the birthplace of Samuel Lincoln, forefather of the president, with Lincoln statues already in Manchester and London.
Samuel Gompers president of the American Federation of Labor was confined to his bed at his Washington home in a state of temporary nervous exhaustion but was reported tonight to be feeling much better.
The labor leader's physician said his condition was not serious and he could resume duties as head of the labor group. His secretary reported a 101 degree temperature and bed rest, then later word he expected to attend the conference next day with a drop to 99 degrees and improved well being.
Plane 44 piloted by Lieutenant Frank Kirby of New York fell 200 feet near Evanston Wyoming. Kirby died instantly and his observer, Lieutenant Stanley C. Miller, died hours later at a ranch house. Both left Mineola a week earlier, same hour as Parson Maynard began westward flight. engine trouble and weather delayed them. Maynard, far ahead, learned of their deaths after landing in Nebraska.
Officers from the steamship Sarcoxie reported that the crew of the British schooner Onato had been rescued by the British steamship Zirkil after abandoning ship. The messages said the captain and mate were dead and hinted at a mutiny. Sarcoxie arrived after Zirkil had already picked up the crew.

Washington Oct 15 The Senate spent seven hours in debate delaying progress on the Shantung amendment and the ratification treaty as leaders hoped for a vote or reading advancement. The session opened with formal treaty reading but Shantung dominated the day and extended the debate.
Informal agreement seeks to vote the Shan tung amendment today to clear the way for tomorrow's session and adjournment.
The King and Queen of the Belgians visited Glacier Point California. At a ranger station the Queen stroked a mountain lion then entered the cage to inspect it, the animal snapping at her sleeve as she retreated without panic.
