Food Fair Draws Record Day Crowd at Mechanics' Building

Long lines formed before Mechanics' hall as fairgoers swarmed the Food section and giveaways. Excursion trains from Full River and Wood’s Hole arrived with plans for Buzzard’s Bay and Fairhaven visits. Domestic science talks by Miss Nellie Dot Ranche covered vegetables and odorless cabbage, with samples of parsley puffs, squash souffle, and ox tongue cauliflower. The Salem Cadet Band, led by Jean M. Missud, performed a varied program, while moving pictures and the Ben Hur illustrated show drew crowds. An educated horse named Jim Key impressed attendees, and a humorous cloak room incident involved a man misunderstanding coat checks for tastings.
