Roosevelt Shot at Milwaukee Speech Seventy Years Ago

A would be assassin fired on Colonel Roosevelt in Milwaukee as he prepared to speak. Secretaries Martin and Girard overpowered the man, saving the former president and prompting calm among the crowd despite a near savag e reaction. Roosevelt insisted he would finish his address. The wound proved not serious.
