In Lowellt on October 14 a careless preparation of belladonna and arnica leaves poisoning an entire boarding house. A nurse poured the kettle into a teapot thinking it strong tea. six residents suffered severe pains, others fell ill but no fatalities are expected. Dr. Charles W. Taylor treated the victims and recovery is anticipated.

Cincinnati October 14 Jacob Weller and Co wholesale peanut and pickle dealers failed with liabilities around 100000 and assets near that. The loss stemmed from warehouse receipt forgeries by their confidential clerk R M Doll who fled to Canada after confessing. Four hours later Skaats Edwards and Co another peanut commission firm failed with about 30000 of Weller paper and likely 60000 in liabilities.
