Hunt for Yeggs Abandoned Near Dover Point

A statewide manhunt for Salisbury yeggs traced to a point three miles outside Dover was essentially called off by Massachusetts authorities after a futile clue from the Dover Point drawbridge tender. Special Officer Jones later tied a new lead at Barrington nine miles from Dover, but the tip was weak. Local Chief Clark suspects the suspects may still be in the area and will continue checking clues.

Judge Prouty to retire from Interstate Commerce Commission

Judge Charles A. Prouty plans retirement from the Interstate Commerce Commission to direct railway physical valuation. Agreement reached with the ICC and President Wilson, with Prouty resigning around November 1. His 1896 appointment by President Cleveland began a long tenure, and his exit will create two commission vacancies this year. Judson C. Clements term also ends in December and is likely to be renewed.
