Democratic state committee plans energetic campaign and debates

The executive committee met on Saturday to map an energetic campaign, organize county and town branches, and hold a joint debate between Democratic and Republican candidates for state treasurer. Hon. A. W. Beard and Captain Henry M. Cross are slated for debate after their prior confrontations in state house debates and the investigation committee. The Bay State club will host a reception for Worcester convention nominees as campaign events are set in multiple towns, with meetings planned across Berkshire, Essex, Norfolk, and other districts.

In St Louis on October 11 a business men's arbitration committee met with a five member Knights of Labor delegation led by Casper Heep who asserted no street car strike was ordered. Workers pressed for a 12 hour day and wages of 175 for drivers and 62 for conductors. Cars ran at reduced capacity amid police presence after riots, with two derailed Missouri Railroad cars and the Olive Street line suspended.

The Granite State deaf mutes convention met Paremono October 11 with a business session, reports from Job Larner on southern work, and an evening gathering with delegates from Nashua, Manchester and other towns. Prison Walls An Agile Girl Escapes State Prison

Katie Judd, 25, jailed for 25 years for arson in 1583, escaped from a Rhode Island state prison this afternoon. She had fired a residence of John G. Weaver causing 725,000 in loss, previously set a Massachusetts house fire, and aided a burglar named Rounds to flee. Chief Justice Durfee had sentenced her to a quarter of a century. she vowed not to serve her time. She scaled the wall around two o clock and vanished, described as very pretty with piercing eyes, stirring community excitement.

Opening services at St. Anne's Catholic church Worcester

In Worcester Massachusetts opening services were held in the basement of the new St. Anne's Church on Normal School Hill.
