Salvage award in Fury and cargo case from Cape Cod distress

The Fury, bound from West Africa to Gloucester, was found at Cape Cod Feb 26 1879 with damaged steering, attempted to anchor near the light, and then was assisted by a plaintiff steamship using its hawser to tow to the lightship, later by a tug. The court held the Bark in danger but not to the level of periling the steamer, and awarded $1 for the salvage service including the hawser. J C Dodge & Sons and R Stone Jr represented the parties.
