Storm Eats Coney Island Beach as Ocean Rises
A fall storm battered Coney Island on October 11, washing away at least 500 feet of the summer beach and threatening the sandy promenade used by hundreds of thousands. Waves reached about 20 feet as coast life saving crews report eroded woodwork and exposed shore structures, with the eastern end rope and tracks of the marine railway damaged or removed.

Car Attacked by Striker Sympathizers on Belt Line
In Washington the Belt Line streetcar was assaulted after dark by a crowd of youths and men backing striking workers. Stones on the track and missiles struck the car and driver, a pistol shot was fired but no injuries reported. Police dispersed the crowd as the Car Drivers' Union voted to boycott the Belt Line and related roads and planned distributing ten thousand circulars urging workers to refrain from riding those cars.
