Beaudette Minnesota reports four towns Beaudette Spooner Pitt and Graceton burned by a forest fire. At least 75 dead are confirmed with the death toll expected to exceed 300 as wagonloads of corpses reach Beaudette station. Roaming grieving families and searching parties describe the aftermath.
At 8:30 the fire swept Beaudette and Spooner destroying every building within minutes. Residents fled to a passenger train and crossed to Rainy River Ontario for safety. Five thousand homeless, many destitute, with uncertain deaths and injuries, as cold weather looms and details await spring.
An explosion on Franklin street at 1 10 this morning near ongoing grade crossing work damaged the Howard Company shoe factory and the Aetna Hosiery building, blew out windows, wrecked a laborers dwelling, and disrupted Boston & Albany tracks with heavy expected losses.
John E. Redmond M P and colleagues spoke at Symphony Hall drawing an audience that contributed $16,000 for the home rule campaign. Mayor John F. Fitzgerald urged Boston citizens to show their hearts and purses in a golden flood of donations at the stage edge.

Armed yeggs from a four man gang roamed the South End early yesterday holding up pedestrians and forcing Tremont street lunchroom manager Ralph Underwood to open a floor trap and robbing the cash register of 25 dollars. Police linked the crime to a Plakins restaurant holdup from a few nights earlier.

Joseph Brandano, 1 Colbert Court, Malden, was stabbed and beaten by three robbers who forced entry to his home and fled after finding no money. He was taken to Malden Hospital and his condition was described as serious. Brandano runs an express business in a largely immigrant district.
At 6 30 tonight Brandano was attacked at his home by three men who forced him outside and stabbed him in the back before beating him unconscious. He lay on the sidewalk for half an hour before bystanders found him. Dr Clarence Staples said the injury is serious and he was taken to a hospital.

Napoleon Lajoie went eight for eight in a St Louis doubleheader against Cleveland, nearing Ty Cobb's 1910 batting lead. Only one hit left the infield for a long drive a first inning triple off Northen, amid alleged lay down play by St Louis players.
Local observers note Lajoie collected eight hits in eight at bats as he chased Cobb. St Louis fielders Corriden and Wallace fumbled bunts pushed toward third and short, with no throws to first, prompting speculation of team intent to boost Lajoie's averages. A boy was sent to the press stand to learn the official scorer's ruling on one bunt.
