Columbus Day dedication at Strandway features a hydroplane drop of Wilson war message and Liberty Loan literature by Lt. Godfrey L. Cabot. The program includes 200 illuminated yachts offshore and a mass of business leaders, Vincent Club workers, and broad speeches urging immediate Liberty bond purchases as New England prepares for a campaign climax on October 27.

Fred Gibbons of Beachmont and John L. Chisholm of Lynn were rescued by a U S destroyer after their disabled motorboat Gretchen drifted 40 miles southeast of Boston Light. They were near exhaustion and near starvation when picked up yesterday afternoon.
Exhausted mariners on a motor boat bound from Lynn to Ipswich River had engine trouble and dwindling food. Cast anchor near Norman’s Woe, Gloucester, but anchor failed in 40 mile breeze. They were spotted and rescued by a destroyer after signaling with their last gasoline.
James J. Storrow, state fuel administrator, was urged at a City Club conference to consider running for mayor. Supporters cite a desire for good government, but Storrow resisted due to heavy duties with the Massachusetts Public Safety Committee and his New England fuel administrator role.
