Session in Tewksbury and city notes on local affairs

The executive council will hold a session in Tewksbury this morning. Boston Prince Hall Masons traveled to New Bedford yesterday. Several candidates are named for the superior criminal court vacancy left by Judge Gardner. A ward 16 workingmen's club forms to back pro workingman candidates. Cudworth will leaves 9000 to First Baptist Scituate and to the American Home Missionary Society and the American Baptist Union. Wendell Phillips club plans a quarterly dinner with J Thomas Fortune as speaker. Taxes in wards begin tonight through Oct 26 6 to 10 pm on voter registration days. Judge Parmenter finds no reliable evidence of unlawful violence in John Havey’s July drowning near Craigie’s Bridge. Fisher Hill reservoir contract awarded to Trumbull Cheney of Lawrence at 741130, declined. Moulton Mahoney of Lawrence offered at 75600. Frank Fuller hospitalized after fall from staging at Alley’s Brewery. James Maloney injured lightly. Will of James Plunkett leaves estate to the little sisters of the poor and Charlestown destinations in equal parts. Local Benevolent Group Reports 219 Members and $895 Benefits

The annual meeting of the O U A M S ick Benefit association reported 219 members and $895 paid in sick benefits last year. A new express firm named Child Kent Express with $20 000 working capital was formed in the city. officers include Charles D. Pecker as president and S Henry Kent as manager with a slate of directors. Other items note resignations, job changes, local church missionary work, the defunct police relief fund controversy, street department pay adjustments, cemetery board leadership, revival meetings, flood damages, and ongoing Needham and Towner revival activities.

Delirium Tremens Case Taken From La Grange Street

Police found a man on La Grange Street at about 1 am suffering a severe delirium tremens attack. He could not speak and was taken to the station house then to the tombs after Dr. Bush’s evaluation. By afternoon he was on Deer Island with no change in condition. a 27 year old dark complexioned man with a smooth face and dark moustache.

Saloon Owner Struck, In Critical Condition After Ejection

Michael Kerney of 43 Pitts Street was struck with a brick last Wednesday while ejecting a man from his saloon. He suffered a skull fracture exposing the bone and refused hospital care at first. His condition worsened. doctors ordered removal to the hospital yesterday where he remains in a critical state.

Ex Governor Talbot of Massachusetts Dies at Home

Hon Thomas Talbot ex governor of Massachusetts died at his home in Billerica at 1 PM Tuesday Oct 6 after about two weeks of illness from inflammation of the membranes of the brain and spine. Talbot rose from humble beginnings to lead the commonwealth, married twice, left seven children, and aided in local industry and policy including endorsing the 10 hour law.

Gas Death of Newtonville Pastor Shocked Parishioners

Rev. Michael M. Green pastor of Our Lady Help of Christians church Newtonville was found dead in his chamber at the parish residence on Adams Street. He perished from asphyxiation due to gas escaping from a stove used for heating. He was about 50, born in Berehaven Ireland, and had suffered rheumatic and heart troubles for months.
