President Taft sharply rebuked Fred W. Bryce head of the Young Men's Republican League of Utah after Bryce praised him with a partisan speech at the Utah State Fair. Bryce, a prospective 1912 Republican candidate, predicted Taft’s triumph and mocked the Democratic side.
President Taft toured Salt Lake City visiting the Mormon Tabernacle and addressed the Old Folks of Utah at a public gathering. He discussed tariff vetoes and government business relations before departing for Pocatello Idaho after a celebratory banquet at the Commercial Club.

Sher win L. Cook alleges Governor Foss refused to reappoint Juvenile Court Clerk Charles W. M. Williams due to Williams backing James J. Storrow against Mayor Fitzgerald. Cook blames Democratic State chairman John F. McDonald as campaign manager for Fitzgerald and says Foss authorized an investigation into Williams signing his official title to political papers, finding the charges unwarranted.

Mrs. Milton Lloyd Valencia recently divorced from a New Yorker arrived in Boston from New York early yesterday with Marcel R. Clodio son of Victor Clodio the operatic tenor. The couple had eloped Wednesday night and wed in Armonk New York.
A couple wed hastily in Armonk with a justice, while a telegram purportedly from the bride's mother offered forgiveness but no ceremony. The Lenox Hotel in New York later reported rooms in demand and no post wedding calls, as newsmen were largely kept away and the groom moved in with his bride.
