In Barre Vermont a violent clash erupted at Socialists Hall on Granite Street when 18 anarchists led by Corti attacked a socialist meeting featuring Dr Giacinto Menotti Serenti. Alexanderetto fired three shots wounding Eli Corti and Emilio Vochini. Corti is reported to die. Police arrived after Garreto was overpowered and the melee continued until officers intervened.

In a Lake Michigan squall near Green Island the steamer J. H Hackley capsized, drowning 11 passengers and leaving seven more adrift all night. The Goodrich Line steamer Sheboygan rescued the survivors near Fish Creek as they clung to wreckage, with rescue completed by 7 AM.
Theresa Vaughan, a well known actress of Bostonian origin, died today at the Worcester asylum for the insane. Born in Chelsea forty years ago, she came from a theatrical family with her brother Joe Ott, the comedian, also famed. Continued on Page 7-First Column.

The 4:15 pm arrival led to a long, dense crush while spectators strained to glimpse the entry.
