Dewey to Visit Vermont and Boston in October Tour

On October 9 he leaves Washington for Shelburne Farms Vermont as guest of W Seward Webb. October 12 he visits Montpelier October 13 Northfield Academy and October 14 Boston as guest of city and State. Governor Wolcott postpones militia mobilization to this date. Dewey arrives by special train night before to review regiments and aid Wolcott in reviewing marching columns. He will be guest of Northfield Academy Alumni Society at the Brunswick.

Governor Wolcott Announces Dewey Visit to Boston

Governor Wolcott returned from Washington with Admiral Dewey to visit Boston on Saturday October 14. A parade civic organizations and a noon procession led by Dewey with Olympia sailors is planned with a large public banquet still uncertain due to hall issues. Military units including cadets naval militia and ambulance corps will participate.

The body of a man, possibly George B. Smith of South Boston, was found in the East River near Williamsburg Brooklyn. He appears about 55, well dressed, with a forehead wound mistaken for murder but deemed water impact damage. Papers in his pockets identify Georg E. Smith of 862 East Seventh Street, South Boston.

Mrs Mary Boland of Boston died Sept 30 of phthisis while aboard the Dominion liner New England from Boston. She was buried at sea as the steamer arrived at Queenstown on Oct 4.
