Jewelry dealer faked loss of 20000 gems at North station

Frederick M. Harris of 686 Blue Hill avenue claimed a bag with 20000 dollars worth of gems was stolen at North station. Patrolman Walsh investigated and found the diamonds were checked and Harris had forgotten the incident, clearing the matter as a mistaken loss.

Harris foils presumed train station robbery in Portland trip

Harris, a longtime Maine jewelry firm employee, claimed robbers swiped his grip at North station after missing several Portland trains. Police traced a suspect from Derne street, but Harris recovered the stolen jewelry after producing a missing check at the station parcel room.
