Representatives of State and Nation gather in a Worcester church with a 1:50 p m prayer at Oak Avenue mansion. Funeral services follow at Church of Unity at 2 30 with eulogies by Rev Edward Everett Hale. Continued on page from first column.
A New York commission house closes out 200 overcoats in four styles including Kersey Beaver Melton and Vienna sold as ready to wear at typical shops 25 dollars. The coats feature labor trim and fit and are offered to order while they last along with 150 pieces of Vienna style cloth at 35 dollars per full measure from tailors.
At Adams Illinois a floor collapse during the laying of a corner stone at St. Stanislaus Polish Church injured Bishop Thomas D Beaven and 69 others, including 16 with serious wounds. A 16 year old Polish boy suffered severe injuries and several spectators were crushed. The ceremony was postponed.
Captain Collins and his nine won at St Louis while New York split a Chicago doubleheader. Boston resumes first by one game as Cy Young pitched well and fielded sharply with Selbach Parent and Lachance contributing. Today's schedule pits Collins against Chicago and New York versus St Louis with Boston aiming for two wins in Chicago.

The body of General W. P. Chadwick of Exeter New Hampshire and chairman of Phillips Exeter Academy trustees was found on South Truro beach. It had drifted about 15 miles across Barnstable Bay and was identified by Charles F. Ward of Chatham. It will be taken to Exeter tomorrow morning.
Mrs Delia McKay of Somerville, 50, was assaulted and robbed of 1.40 by a man about 25, 5 feet 9, medium complexion, who offered to show her the way to Reading. She was found unconscious near Lowell street by transit workers and transported to the Reading police station. She recovered consciousness and returned home to Somerville.
Two firemen were slightly injured and one saved comrades as a fire on the roof of 246 Hanover Street threatened others. Hoseman Murphy fractured a thumb. Thomas Downey burned on the head. Fireman Abraham Skinner acted to avert a collapse. Other city blazes included a $100 stable fire on Alger Street and a $300 storehouse blaze on P O Riordan estate.
The forecast calls for fair skies over Boston and nearby areas on Monday and Tuesday. Highs are expected in the mild range with light easterly winds. Low humidity and tranquil conditions should persist through the early work week.
Washington Oct 2 Postmaster General Payne remains in extremely critical condition after several sinking spells. His family and the assistant rector of St. John's Church were summoned to his bedside once, but he rallied with heroic remedies. At 4 30 he was conscious and taking nourishment. His heart is very weak.
Fall River reports brighter prospects for settlement as merchants urge speedy talks between manufacturers and operatives. Letters have been sent to both sides and operatives show willingness to conference this week, while manufacturers await response.
Charles Taylor of Woburn shot the last wolf from the Lexington Park menagerie that had terrorized Lexington and Bedford. He fired three shots as the animal rushed toward him while he was stepping from his vehicle, initially hoping to capture it alive.
Davis P Gray 77 long time Whitinsville postmaster was found dead on his sofa. He served Northbridge in town offices and two terms in the Legislature. Gray worked at Whitin Machine Works four years before becoming postmaster.
Charles A. Magwood and John J. McNeil, exhausted and weak, returned home to 54 Howard Street after 52 hours adrift in a small boat. They had left Friday at 3 am to fish off Moon Island, rode out a ferocious squall, then rode to Horseshoe Bay Thompson's Island, awaiting calmer seas before reaching port last night. Magwood called it the worst experience of his 12 years at sea.
