Johnston Proclaims Kentucky Amid Rebel Movements

The Nashville Union and American prints Gen Johnston’s proclamation to Kentuckians, likened in tone to Buckner. It notes Kentuckians flocking to Buckner, calls for provisions for the destitute, and reports Major Penton securing locomotives and cars for the rebels. Governor Harris requests 30,000 volunteers per Johnston’s requisition as rumors of military moves swirl.
