Lawrence Nov 29. John Warnis 28 burst into the public sitting room at 25 Harrington street and shot dead Mrs. Veronic Burton a widow after driving others from the room. He fled the building and two hours later tried to shoot two policemen who placed him under arrest.

Jealous suitor murders mother at boarding house

A man named Warnis, motivated by unrequited love for Mrs. Burton, killed her in a North Andover boarding house after an evening of drinking. He fired one shot as guests fled and was captured by police with a second pistol drawn. Mrs. Burton, a 32 year old mill worker, died from a single bullet.
