Inmates at Charlestown Prison Charlies Street Jail Deer Island Meas of Industry House of Reformation Rainsford Island Long Island and Charlestown Almshouse received 26 turkeys in total with numbers listed for each facility. The Salvation Army held two large feasts, one for boys at its hall and one for girls and women at the Christian Church, Knee land and Tyler streets, feeding 1600 boys and 1100 girls. YMCA Hosts Afternoon Reception And Star Course Evening
The Young Men's Christian Association held an open house with a reception and entertainment in the afternoon and the regular Star Course in the evening. There was no dinner. Hezekiah Butterworth, Esq., was received at 3 p.m. The Ashmont Orchestra provided music and Butterworth read an original Thanksgiving story. Refreshments followed in the game room from 5:30 to 7 o'clock.
