Thaw Contests New York Custody In Habeas Plea

Attorney for Harry K. Thaw filed in federal court an answer to New York's habeas corpus action seeking to stay Governor Welker's extradition warrant. Harvard Men Earn $185000 in Last Year Statistics

Harvard students earned 185600 for college expenses last year, up 12000 from the prior year. Of applicants, 806 were placed earning 52500. 494 secured summer work totaling over 40000. Tutors led by average 734, newspaper correspondents 427, and sign painters and companions followed.

Supple to Lecture on Rome and the Consistory

New Haven Railroad Seeks New Trial in Wreck Cases

Springfield Nov 28 motions for a new trial were filed by attorney Joseph F Berry of Boston for the New York New Haven Hartford railroad in five cases arising from the Maromnas wreck. The Superior Court jury awarded plaintiffs 7650 total damages. Plaintiffs include Mary Cochrane Springfield Phelus Colby West Springfield Bartholomew Sullivan and Honore Sullivan of Hartford.

Defence Counsel Opens as Hospital Hearing Continues

Joseph Williamson led for the defence as about 40 witnesses were planned. The defence argued the attendants were well chosen and Dr Miller ran a humane institution. Former patient William Mulholland testified an attendant broke his jaw after he was chased, leaving him unable to close his teeth.

Noted Architect George Browne Post Dies at 75

New York November 28 George Browne Post renowned architect died today at his Bernardsville New Jersey home after a brief illness. He designed iconic New York structures including the Stock Exchange the College of the City of New York the Pulitzer Building and the Equitable Building. His work also covered Vanderbilt Huntington Wisconsin State Capitol and the Chicago World's Fair Manufacturers Liberal Arts Building. He held memberships on art commissions and other government advisory bodies.
