Two vessels collide off Massachusetts injuring crew
The schooner Major Pickands arrived disabled at Vineyard Haven after a collision with the Boston fishing schooner Sylvester Whalen thirty miles southeast of Highland Light. Two Whalen crewmen were killed Patrick Powers and Michael Corrigan and three were badly injured including Robert O Brien Joseph Clark and Thomas O Brien. The Whalen was set ablaze by fleeing crew and the Pickands limped to port for repairs with 25 000 fish onboard and $8000 insurance.

Unknown boy killed in street accident at Knapp Street
A 10 or 11 year old boy, well dressed, died after a wagon backed into a building at No 9 Knapp Street. The horse frightened, the boy was crushed then fell to the sidewalk and died seven minutes after reaching the Emergency Hospital. Police expect identification today.
