Both branches of Boston city government met to honor Thomas A. Hendricks Vice President of the United States. Aldermen and councilmen adopted resolutions praising his public service, urged unity beyond party lines, and ordered flags at half mast and City Hall closed on the funeral day. Salem also formed a committee to draft resolutions.

The forty first annual Massachusetts Teachers Association session opened at Girft High School West Newton Street with a 9 15 business meeting. Lectures followed by Bicknell Duryea and Dunton on reading, moral education and German methods. Afternoon sections featured English literature in high schools and elementary science in grammar schools with primary teaching principles addressed. Evening address by H G Spaulding on ancient and modern landscape in poetry and painting drew a large educator audience.

Peck Permitted to Sue Richards in Equity
In the Supreme Court equity session Judge Devens sustained the demurrer in the Peck Richards case. Calvin A. Richards had sued Alonzo D. Peck as executor of John T. Dingley to stop prosecutions of actions of law arising from dealings with John T. Dingley and his son James Lingley. About 30 000 dollars involved. Richards alleged fraud conspiracies to harass him with notes belonging to the Dingley estate. The decision allows Peck to retry his suits.
