Warren Charged With Theft From Dead Doctor's Estate
Warren faces grand jury proceedings after being charged with stealing more than $50,000 from the estate of Dr. Tony Suey the Boston herb specialist who died at his Dartmouth street home leaving about $184,000 secreted in tin boxes attic trunks and hidden places. A nurse Miss May Madison who held the secret money testified about her cousin Miss Eunice Rich who counted $184,000 for $16. The defense contends Madison hid the funds to avoid officers and that Warren held the money to keep it from the court. The prosecution cited death secrecy and possible involvement of Chinese societies and even the Chinese government. Judge Creed held Warren on $10,000 bail and the case was postponed to the grand jury.
