Arrest on Day of Marriage Upends Bridgeport Couple

John J. Hines a 25 year old Bridgeport resident and ex Metropolitan Life worker was arrested in Bridgeport on a larceny warrant for 92.04. He planned to marry Annie Marion McCormick a 22 year old former Waltham Watch employee who had left College Hall to return home.

Patrolman Michael Driscoll Shot in Holyoke

Patrolman Michael J. Driscoll was shot early this morning on East Cabot Street in Holyoke while attempting to arrest Alfred Garipay who fired five shots. Garipay, 22, of Willimansett fled and had not been captured by 2:45. Driscoll, on the force since 1901, was hit in the chest and likely fatally injured. he leaves a wife and daughter.

A dispatch from Williamstown Mass reports Mr and Mrs Francis Bowes Sayre will move to New York and sail at 10 oclock Saturday aboard the North German Lloyd steamship George Washington from Bremen for Europe.

A man jumped from a third-story window during a blaze at 5 Gilson Court West End. About a dozen residents were helped to the street as James Young is hospitalized in serious condition at Massachusetts General Hospital.

Mrs. Francis I. Stanley of Newton was hurled from a touring car in Bradford and suffered probable fatal injuries after the vehicle struck a telegraph pole. Her husband, driver of the car, escaped with minor injuries. They were en route from Amesbury to Boston with Stanley Motor Carriage Company cars.

Real estate broker dies at wife’s new grave

William A. Finlay 30 a Roxbury-born broker with offices at 95 State street died at Forest Hills Cemetery by cyanide after selecting his wife’s freshly made grave as the scene. A can of poison and water were found beside his body and carnations lay atop the wife’s remains. He and Lena Schafer had lived at 1058 Walnut street Newton Highlands. The death was discovered at 5 pm yesterday and a note asked G A Rothfuss and Dr H W Broughton be notified.

In Fall River on November 26 private detectives uncovered an organized two year robbery ring. Twenty four mill workers from American Printing Company and Algonquin Printing Company were arrested along with five suspected fences, accused of stealing print goods and one ton of white cotton cloth worth fifty thousand dollars. The operation led to extensive seizures and wide crack in the theft network.
