Larceny of Fowl Charged in Chickens Heist

Michael J. McCarthy, residence unknown, was charged with larceny after allegedly stealing six pounds of chicken from Rhodes Bros. on Tremont Street. He fled with the poultry under his arm but was chased by Patrolman Tangney and booked at the Dedham Street station. Two chickens were found on the desk during processing.

London dispatch reports the death of Most Rev John Macevilly archbishop of Tuam and primate of Connaught since 1881. He died today aged 86. The church held his long service in high regard across Ireland and England.

Coxe Collieries Resume After Strike Settlement

Coxe Bros. & Co and striking workers settled their dispute in Hazleton Penn the company will resume operations at seven collieries Monday. All men except indicted for misdemeanors and slate pickers displaced by new machinery will be rehired immediately. If indicted men are acquitted they will be reinstated. The Coxes are last to settle with their employees.

21 202 Tons Of Coal Arrived Yesterday

A total of 21 202 tons of coal arrived in port yesterday with 1160 tons of anthracite. Steamers Planet Neptune Micmac Forest Dale and Mystic carried bituminous coal for Boston Elevated Boston Maine and a Sidney B C port. Tug Teaser and Kalmia delivered additional coal and Micmac to load return cargo at Pictou Nova Scotia. Steamer Olivemoor and Miramichi shipments noted with high rates and firm prices. State actions and coal pocket measures discussed with no planned price changes.

Freight Train Wrecks Near Hudson Amid Down Grade

Queenstown November 2 The British steam yacht Maria recently bought by Vice Commodore Bourne of the New York Yacht Club sailed from Glasgow October 11 for New York and after a heavy gale off the Irish coast required drydock repairs at Queenstown on October 16. She left for New York today via Madeira.

World’s Largest Coast Defence Gun Headed to Sandy Hook

The 16 inch coast defence gun, forged at Watervliet arsenal, was shipped by barge to Sandy Hook proving grounds. A crane, the largest in the world, assisted in loading the gun onto the barge for the voyage today.
