Bullet in Boy's Brain Mystery Near Ashley Falls

In Canaan Connecticut on November 26 a 14 year old boy James Mackin was found unconscious with a bullet in his brain at an ice house near the Massachusetts line. A 32 caliber revolver owned by Edward Rice of Ashley Falls was found nearby and had been missing for a week. The boy was taken to a Pittsfield hospital with little chance of recovery and officials could not determine if he fired the shot or was shot by another.

Robbed by Thugs on the Common in Broad Daylight

Patrick Lucey a 60 year old Malden resident was robbed on the Beacon Street mall near the Common last night at midnight. Two young men demanded his money and seized his watch after Lucey clutched his purse and raised his hands. He escaped with only the watch and gave a vague description.
