Escape raises caution as jail inmate slips from Cambridge hospital

Jaquith, serving a two year House of Correction sentence for breaking and entering, escaped a Cambridge hospital while wounded and bandaged. He reportedly fashioned a rope from a blanket and sheets to descend a thirty foot wall and a twenty five foot fence. Police in Cambridge Boston and nearby towns were alerted. He had been sent down in June from Lowell.

Murder in Lowell a barber shoots wife then kills himself

In Lowell an apparent domestic tragedy ends in double tragedy as Frank Cote, about 28, shoots his wife dead with a revolver and then shoots himself. The couple, living in Vigeant's block, were found by the block owner after smoke from the bed drew a milkman’s attention. Mrs Cote died on the bed with fatal bullet wounds. Frank Cote survived only a few hours. He and his wife had no children. Mrs Cote was a saleslady at Chris Olmes's Merrimac Street store and was well regarded. Cote had become jealous and drank heavily. They had attended the Opera House together the prior evening.
