Postoffice to Restore Free Delivery in Hingham

Free delivery may return to Hingham once Washington completes red tape. Last year the local office dropped from second to third class, with postmaster George Cushing’s salary cut and carriers discharged amid a stamp selling charge. Receipts for 1904 reached 10 511.74, only 325.67 less than 1903, meeting the $10,000 threshold that warrants free delivery. Cushing, appointed by President Cleveland in 1889, is vindicated.
