Newsboys and Bootblacks Dinner Stampede at Tremont Temple

Yesterday morning about 400 Boston newsboys and bootblacks gathered for their fifth annual dinner at Tremont Temple after assembling at the Newsboys Home on Howard Street. The crowded procession caused a comical stampede through Tremont Street and briefly trapped Police Commissioner Whit ing before rescuers freed him. Superintendent J. B. Reid helped oversee the event and the feast followed the parade.

Little Wanderers Enjoy Thanksgiving Dinner at Home for Little Wanderers

At 11 o'clock the hall was packed as children aged 14 months to 14 years gathered for Thanksgiving dinner. Directors Eben McPherson Barna Snow A J Lowdon and W G Brooks spoke to the crowd as volunteers served turkey mashed potatoes and vegetables. Edibles poured in from Sunday schools across New England with 14 000 packages and 16 000 in food and money noted. A letter to May Fenton and a white tire for a girl named Mabel were read. A few children had whooping cough but most appeared well cared for by kind supporters.

Tie Working Boys' Home Dinner Baffles Boston Cleric

The Rev Father Roche of the Working Boys Home on Bennet Street recalled a feast he hosted. He spoke of dining over 250 boys and about 50 girls with a turkey dinner including cranberry sauce squash potatoes pie oranges apples nuts ice cream and coffee.

Mr. G. W. Parker of the Boston Helping Hand Mission held his fourth annual dinner at Seamen's Bethel corner North Bennett and Hanover streets. About 250 sat to turkey mince pie coffee and hot rolls after his address, with over 400 accepting hospitality by five o clock. Palmer and Browne of Station 1 served as doorkeepers and endured taunts from patrons seeking seconds.

Thanksgiving at Charlestown prison yields clemency for Dwight

At the State prison in Charlestown 945 inmates attended chapel in Thanksgiving. Daniel J. Dwight received clemency from Governor Robinson after a life sentence for second degree murder. Dwight's conduct has been exemplary and he planned to visit East Boston after release. An old inmate Dan Friel, also promised release, faced renewed disappointment. At Charles Street Jail a 225 pound Thanksgiving turkey was served at dinner followed by potatoes bread coffee and apples.148 prisoners joined in the feast through sympathetic contact and even defaulter Reed was among the county's guests.
