The great North German Lloyd steamer Kaiser Wilhelm der Grosse arrived in quarantine after a 48 hour delay and grounding near the Southwest Spit in lower New York Bay. It left Cherbourg November 14 and faced a storm and propeller trouble, with a 17 year old German coal trimmer lost overboard during the voyage. The ship carried 328 board, 328 second cabin and 673 steerage passengers.
