Judge Hannen stated the contempt was serious and ordered a 500 pound fine. Trial then covered testimonies about the murder of George Curtin’s father and related League activities, with Norah Fitzmaurice recounting events and police protection.

Elijah W Halford of the Indianapolis Journal, aged 48, is offered the role of private secretary by General Harrison. An English immigrant who grew up in Cincinnati, he began as a reporter at the Indianapolis Journal twenty five years ago, led the Chicago Inter Ocean, and served as private secretary to the late Senator Morton. He also represented Indiana on the platform committee at the Chicago convention.
At the New York convention the five officers and arbitration board were elected. Cleveland was admitted to succeed Detroit. The league will include fielding and battery errors in the summary. Boston gains the big four with Bennett and several players joining Pittsburg.
Springfield dispatch reports Charles T. Parsons of Northampton, arrested in Holyoke for chaining a Polish immigrant to his wagon seat. Parsons, claiming to protect the man and return him to New York, posted bail and faces court on the stated charges. The Pole, about 50, arrived from Castle Garden last spring, worked in Barre, endured harsh conditions, and was promised $12 monthly but paid nothing. He recalls being chained during transit to Holyoke, nearly freezing, with two cousins in Pittsburgh as relatives. He is now under care of Holyoke residents.

Cambridge Electric Light Company formally opened its new Albro street station yesterday. An afternoon inspection drew many guests including city officials. A banquet for 125 gentlemen followed in the hall on the second floor with President J. Q. Bennett presiding and Hon. L. M. Tianunum toastmaster. The brick five story building houses offices and rooms finished in hardwoods. The plant includes a 1000 and a 500 incandandescent dynamo and seven 45 arc dynamos powered by four 75 horsepower boilers.
New York reports arrivals of steamers Wyoming Liverport Wesernland Antwerp Victoria Mediterranean ports General Whitney and numerous schooners. Sailed were City of New York Republic and Sasouth to Liverpool Wilxomnen to Isremen Manhattan to Havana brig Starlight to Fort Spain. Halifax notes French steamer Henry IV arrived from St Pierre and the steamer Salertrou encountered a gale near Bird Rivers sustaining damage but reaching St Pierre for repairs before heading to Halifax.
St Louis November 21 The joint cattle men and butchers convention appears to fail as dressed beef interests gain the upper hand. The clash centers on state inspection and export health claims with national inspection favored to prove cattle health and safeguard markets.
The Malden fire alarm system sparked calls for a dwelling on Grove and Liberty streets owned by Simeon Locke and occupied by William Cooke with losses around 1000 for the building and 700 for furniture insured. Additional blazes include a Jarves street shop owned by Anthony Chapouil and occupied by F E Pierce and others with $400 insured loss.
