In MMPHIS Tenn on November 19 President Roosevelt led a tribute to General Luke E Wright, Philippine governor general, praising the army and noting the need for continued self government in the islands. Attendees included Governor Benton McMillan and General Joseph Wheeler as crowds celebrated Wright and his wife Mrs Wright.

Woolf Crocker reported to Revere police that a woman friend of his wife, Harriet Paine of 610 Columbus Ave Boston, was accosted by a dark complexioned man on Ocean Avenue near Revere Beach as she waited for a bus. She fled to Crocker’s home and described the man as tallish, very black, wearing dark clothes and carrying a club. Police searched but found no suspect. a negro also boarded a train toward Lynn at Orient Heights and Winthrop Beach transfer. no arrests reported.

Savior in River Rescue by Bystander at Charles River

Dominic Kaveney, 22, of 150 Leverett Street, saved William Hennessey, who leapt into the Charles River near Charlesbank gymnasium yesterday and intended to end his life. Kaveney reached him, pulled him to safety, and the man recovered at home after a hospital visit. he cited son troubles as the motive.

Army of women swells Boston registration for 1902 school election

Boston records show 18,323 women among 130,437 eligible voters for the 1902 school committee election. Charlestown Ward 3 leads women registering with 763 new names, while Ward 20 holds the largest total votes at 7,839.
