Samuel H. Lessy, cashier of the Birmingham National Bank, was found dead at a local cemetery last midnight. Bank officials say his accounts were absolutely correct and that the arrest of Earl Steeves of Ansonia for passing two forged checks has no connection to Lessy’s act. They attribute the suicide to mental derangement and melancholia from overwork.
John Donnelly of 201 Endicott Street Boston has won the Boston Newsboys Club scholarship to Burdett College. A 1913 English High School graduate and former Cambridge subway Park Street entrance figure, he starred in English High baseball and contributed to the club's football baseball and basketball teams.

Earl Harding proposed widening the Panama canal zone to 60 miles and returning southern Panama to Colombia. He warned current dual administration in the canal area risks future fragmentation and urged a single administration with control of the Chagres watershed. Mr. Harding charges a small conspiratorial group directed by agents of the canal zone spurred the Panama secession. He claims many leaders in the so called war for liberty are Americans and urges retrocession to Colombia. He advocates a wider canal zone and a ten mile strip across the Isthmus excluding Panama and Colon.
Harry K Thaw remains in his Concord hotel apartments under joint custody of U S Marshal and the New York sheriff while a new habeas corpus writ and extradition proceedings unfold. New York must answer within seven days, with Thaw’s reply due in five, before briefs and printed documents proceed to Judge Amrich for a ruling and possible appeal to the United States Supreme Court.
After a full day before Judge Edgar Aldrich in the New Hampshire district court, an accord was reached between William T. Jerome for New York and Thaw's six lawyers with Aldrich's assent. The writ of habeas corpus filed at Littleton in September is temporarily suspended. Thaw was arrested by Sheriff Drew.
